CANADIAN HOCKEY LEAGUE:

* Dane Byers (right) ... Recorded one assist and 16 penalty minutes in the last two games with the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League (WHL) ... Has tallied one goal and one assist in nine games ... Ranks third on the club with 27 penalty minutes.

Rangers Head Coach and VP of Player Development Tom Renney on Byers' style of play:

"Dane plays a rugged game. It's chip and hunt, dump and chase. He is a consistent, hard-working player. The opposition certainly knows when he's on the ice."

Rangers Amateur Scout Ernie Gare on Byers' play in Prince Albert's 5-1 loss to the Kelowna Rockets on Tuesday, October 12:

"I liked Dane's effort tonight. He was consistent from shift to shift with his physical approach. He skated hard on the backcheck right to the goal line and was responsible defensively. He also went to the net and ran interference on Prince Albert's first goal. He did not get on the scoreboard, but he impacted the game with his physical play and determinded effort."

* Zdenek Bahensky ... Recorded one goal and one assist and was named the game's first star in Saskatoon's 5-4 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings on Tuesday, October 12 ... Ranks third on the Saskatoon Blades with four goals and is tied for fourth on the team with six points in seven games ... Leads the club with two shorthanded goals ... Is playing in his first Western Hockey League season after spending the 2003-04 campaign with Litvinov of the Czech Republic Junior League.

* Ryan Callahan ... Tallied a pair of goals, including one on the power play, in Guelph's 5-4 loss to Kitchener on Monday, October 11 ... Is tied for first on the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with five goals and ranks second on the team with eight points ... His 20 penalty minutes ranks second on the club ... Is the only Guelph player to have tallied a power play goal and a shorthanded goal on the season thus far.

* Jonathan Paiement ... Collected an assist and 10 penalty minutes in Lewiston's 2-2 tie with Gatineau on Monday, October 12 ... Posted three assists and four penalty minutes in Lewiston's 6-4 win over Halifax on Wednesday, October 13 ... Leads the Lewiston MAINEiacs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with 12 assists and is tied for first on the team with 14 points in nine games ... Ranks third on the club with 34 penalty minutes.

* Jakub Petruzalek ... Tallied a goal in Ottawa's 1-1 tie with Belleville on Wednesday, October 13 ... Ranks forst on the Ottawa 67s of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with six assists and nine points in eight games.



EUROPEAN LEAGUES:

* Henrik Lundqvist ... Is currently riding a six-game winning streak after Frolunda HC skated past Malmo, 6-2, on Thursday, October 14 ... Turned aside 30 of 32 shots in the win ... Leads the Swedish Elite League in numerous goaltending categories, including: goals against average (1.13), save percentage (.961), shutouts (2) and goals allowed (9) ... Has guided Frolunda to a 7-1-0 overall record, tops in the Elitserien standings.

* Kim Hirschovits ... Tallied his first goal of the season in HIFK's 6-1 win over Ilves in Finnish League play on Tuesday, October 12 ... Has recorded three points (one goal, two assists) and six penalty minutes in 11 games this season.

* Jarkko Immonen ... Tallied a goal, his third of the season, in JYP's 3-2 loss to Lauri Korpikoski and TPS Turku on Wednesday, October 13 ... Leads JYP of the Finnish League with eight assists and 11 points in 11 games this season ... Led JYP in scoring during the 2003-04 season with 23 goals and 49 points in 52 games.
