Over in the Western Hockey League, 2016 seventh-round pick Ty Ronning has two goals for Vancouver through three games. The right wing, who will take part in the Traverse City Tournament beginning on Friday, had 31 goals and 59 points in 67 games last season for the Giants.
Also out west, 2015 draft choice Brad Morrison has a pair of assists through three exhibition games with Prince George. Last season, Morrison had 28 goals and 62 points in 72 games for the Cougars, both of which were career-highs. Like Ronning, Morrison will play at Traverse City.
In the Ontario Hockey League, Rangers' 2016 fifth-round pick Tim Gettinger is off to a blazing start in the preseason, posting three goals and three assists for six points in four games for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. The 18-year-old had 17 goals and 22 assists for 39 points in 60 games a year ago, all career-bests.
Defenseman Sean Day has registered an assist for Mississauga through three games in the preseason. The 2016 third-round pick had 6 goals and 22 points in 57 games for the Steelheads last season.
Both Gettinger and Day will be part of the Traverse City Tournament.
Lastly in the Kontinental Hockey League, 2014 fourth-round pick Igor Shesterkin has one win through three games with SKA St. Petersburg. Last season, Shesterkin went 16-6-3 with SKA Neva in the KHL junior league, with a .954 save percentage and a 1.19 goals against average.
