Rangers Hosted Garden of Dreams Awareness Night

by Staff Writer / New York Rangers
The New York Rangers hosted the first of two "Garden of Dreams Night" to raise awareness of the Garden of Dreams Foundation and to help make dreams come true for children in crisis.

Rangers alum Rod Gilbert poses with one of the children who was treated to an unforgettable night at The Garden.
The evening kicked off with children from Loisaida and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey watching warmups from ice level. The groups met the MSG announcers, received autographs and took photos.

Five youngsters from Loisiada participated in a high-five line, giving high-fives to players as they entered the ice for warm ups. Fifteen year-old Samuel had the honor of dropping the ceremonial puck prior to the official puck drop that started the Rangers game versus the Senators. Several children also enjoyed Zamboni rides throughout the night as a part of the night's activities.

After warmups the children watched the game from a catered suite and received visits from Rangers alumni. The groups enjoyed the Rangers shootout win over the Senators, showing their enthusiasm by cheering 'Let's Go Rangers!'

Throughout the evening, the Garden of Dreams Foundation and the Rangers also held a coat drive in which fans donated gently used coats in exchange for a commemorative keychain and hosted informational tables that provided information on the organization and how fans could support the mission.

Garden of Dreams is a non-profit organization that works closely with all areas of Madison Square Garden, including the Knicks, Rangers, Liberty, MSG Media, MSG Entertainment and Fuse to "make dreams come true for kids in crisis." Garden of Dreams partners with local children's hospitals, "wish" organizations and community-based organizations to build on-going, unforgettable programs for children in the tri-state area who are suffering from devastating illness, homelessness, abuse, hunger, extreme poverty and tragedy.
