VANCOUVER -- The Rangers finish the Canadian portion of what has been a successful start to their four-game road trip tonight in Vancouver against the Canucks.
The Blueshirts are coming off a 3-1 victory Sunday night against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers. Michael Grabner provided two goals and Antti Raanta had the best start of his season, making 38 saves to improve to a perfect 4-0 this season.
New York is expected to be without Chris Kreider and possibly Pavel Buchnevich for tonight's game against the Canucks. Kreider missed Sunday's game with an upper-body injury while Buchnevich was sidelined with back spasms. Oscar Lindberg took Kreider's place Sunday night, but without another healthy forward on the roster, the Rangers recalled forward Cristoval 'Boo' Nieves Monday as insurance if Buchnevich is unable to play.
Henrik Lundqvist is expected to get the start after backing up Raanta Sunday in Edmonton. Lundqvist is 5-5 for his career against the Canucks, but has been hot as of late, going 5-1 with a 0.99 GAA and a .967 SV% with two shutouts in his last six starts against Vancouver.
Offensively, Rick Nash had had great success against Vancouver as a Blueshirt, posting three goals and seven assists in seven games against the Canucks, and has 38 points in 42 games for his career.
The two teams faced off a week ago in New York, with the Canucks leaving the Big Apple 5-3 victors. Buchnevich led the way that night with three points.
The Canucks are coming off a 5-4 overtime win over the Dallas Stars Sunday night. The Sedin brothers lead the way offensively for Vancouver, with Henrik posting 10 points in 16 games, while Daniel has nine. Youngster Bo Horvat has been one of the hotter Canucks as of late, posting five points in his last four games, including a pair of assists against the Rangers a week ago.
