Rangers Daily Prospect Update: Sept. 29, 2006

Thirteen Rangers prospects competed in regular-season games in the OHL, QMJHL, WHL and Europe on Friday. Here is a summary of their performances:

SanguinettiBobby Sanguinetti
Position: Defense
Team: Owen Sound Attack
League: OHL
Sanguinetti's Scoring to Date: 4 games, 5 goals, 4 assists, 6 PIM
Sept. 29: London 6, Owen Sound 5 (SO) (at London)

Sanguinetti continued his outstanding start to the 2006-07 season, notching two goals and two assists to earn second-star honors in a 6-5 shootout loss. All four of his points came on the power play, with the two assists only 34 seconds apart in the second period.

Hillier Ryan Hillier
Position: Left Wing
Team: Halifax Mooseheads
League: QMJHL
Hillier's Scoring to Date: 6 games, 1 goal, 1 assist, 4 PIM
Sept. 29: Halifax 5, Saint John 2 (at Halifax)

Hillier scored his first goal of the season to give the Mooseheads a 4-2 lead. Halifax added an empty-netter to close out the scoring.

Kveton David Kveton
Position: Right Wing

League: QMJHL
Kveton's Scoring to Date: 3 games, 0 goals, 4 assists, 2 PIM
Sept. 29: Gatineau 5, Rouyn-Noranda 4 (at Gatineau)

Kveton, the Rangers' 2006 fourth-round draft choice, was named the game's No. 2 star with two assists in Gatineau's 5-4 victory over Rouyn-Noranda. Both assists came in the second period while the Olympiques were on the power play. Kveton also picked up a minor penalty in the contest.

Dupont's Scoring to Date: 4 games, 2 goals, 1 assist, 14 PIM
Sept. 29: Moose Jaw 5, Calgary 1 (at Moose Jaw)

Dupont got his first assist of the season on Calgary's lone goal. He had the primary assist on Michael Hengen's power-play tally at 9:55 of the second period, which cut Moose Jaw's lead to 4-1. He also picked up a roughing penalty and 10-minute misconduct late in the third period.

FurrerPhilippe Furrer
Position: Defense
Team: SC Bern
League: Swiss Nationalliga A
Furrer's Scoring to Date: 5 games, 0 goals, 0 assists, 29 PIM
Sept. 29: Bern 6, Davos 2 (at Davos)

Furrer did not record a point but picked up 27minutes in penalties, including a game-misconduct for checking from behind at 18:39 of the second period, as Bern scored a big win on the road. Former NHL players Sebastien Bordeleau and Simon Gamache did most of the damage for Bern. Bordeleau had two goals and an assist, while Gamache had a goal and two assists.

Dornic's Scoring to Date: 8 games, 1 goal, 1 assist, 10 PIM
Sept. 29: Martin 13, Skalica 2 (at Martin)

Dornic's Skalica team was routed on the road by Martin, which built up a 5-0 lead and never looked back. Dornic was called for two minor penalties in the game.

PsurnyRoman Psurny

League: Czech Extraliga
Psurny's Scoring to Date: 9 games, 2 goals, 1 assist, 2 PIM
Sept. 29: Zlin 3, Karlovy Vary 2 (SO) (at Karlovy Vary)

Psurny played but did not score a point or take any penalties as Zlin won in a shootout.

PyattTom Pyatt

Team: Saginaw Spirit

Pyatt's Scoring to Date: 4 games, 0 goals, 1 assist, 0 PIM
Sept. 29: Sarnia 4, Saginaw 3 (SO) (at Sarnia)

Sarnia held Pyatt off the scoreboard in a 4-3 shootout victory. Pyatt was Saginaw's second shooter in the shootout, but was denied by goaltender Sebastian Dahm.

Sept. 29: Sarnia 4, Saginaw 3 (SO) (at Sarnia)

Zaborsky had no points or penalties in Saginaw's 4-3 shootout loss to Sarnia. The Spirit were up 3-0 midway through the second period but gave up three consecutive goals before the period ended.

Cliche Marc-Andre Cliche

League: QMJHL
Cliche's Scoring to Date: 5 games, 4 goals, 3 assists, 4 PIM
Sept. 29: Baie Comeau 5, Lewiston 1 (at Baie Comeau)

After exploding for back-to-back two goal games, Cliche was shut down by Baie Comeau in its 5-1 win over Lewiston. The MAINEiacs captain was called for one minor penalty and was minus-1 for the night. He also had two shots on goal.

Sept. 29: Lethbridge 6, Kootenay 1 (at Lethbridge)

Russell did not pick up any points and received a major penalty and game misconduct for a charging call at 11:51 of the third period.

Flatt did not have any points and was called for two minor penalties.

Anisimov was not in the lineup as his team fell on the road. Alexei Zavarukhin got the game-winner for Chelyabinsk at 16:18 of the second period.
