Rangers Daily Prospect Update: Sept. 23, 2006

Ten Rangers prospects competed in regular-season games in the OHL, WHL and Europe on Friday. Here is a summary of their performances:

RussellRyan Russell
Position: Center
Team: Kootenay Ice

Russell's Scoring to Date: 2 games, 1 goal, 3 assists, 0 PIM
Sept. 23: Spokane 8, Kootenay 4 (at Kootenay)

Although the Ice were routed at home, Russell came up with a big offensive performance, scoring once and assisting on two other goals. His goal came on a power play at 14:54 of the second period to cut Spokane's lead to 4-2.

Sanguinetti's Scoring to Date: 2 games, 2 goals, 2 assists, 0 PIM
Sept. 23: Owen Sound 4, Sault Ste. Marie 3 (at Owen Sound)

Sanguinetti cracked the scoresheet for the second consecutive night to start the season, picking up an assist as the Attack won at home. He assisted on the first goal of the game at 8:14 of the first period.

Furrer's Scoring to Date: 4 games, 0 goals, 0 assists, 2 PIM
Sept. 23: Rapperswil Jona 4, Bern 1 (at Rapperswil Jona)

Furrer played but did not record a point as Bern ended a two-game winning streak with a 4-1 loss on the road. Former University of North Dakota star Brady Murray scored three goals in the third period for Rapperswil Jona, all on assists from former NHL player Stacy Roest, who had the Lakers' other goal in the first period. Murray's second tally came on a power play while Furrer was serving a tripping penalty, his first minor of the season.

Pyatt did not record a point as the Spirit lost their home opener to Guelph.

Zaborsky was held without a point for the second straight night as the Spirit fell to 0-2.

Flatt did not have any points but picked up 17 penalty minutes after an altercation with Spokane's Judd Blackwater at 11:19 of the second period.

Dupont did not score a point as the Hitmen swept Red Deer in a home-and-home series. Montreal Canadiens third-round draft pick Ryan White scored the winning goal at 1:25 of overtime.

Hunter, the Cougars' captain, picked up 12 penalty minutes in his team's first loss of the season.

Sauer was called for a two-minute holding penalty in the first period of a game Vancouver completely dominated at home.
