by Staff Writer / New York Rangers
Fourteen Rangers prospects competed in regular-season games in the OHL, QMJHL, WHL, NCAA and Europe on Friday. Here is a summary of their performances:

RussellRyan Russell
Position: Center
Team: Kootenay Ice
League: WHL
Russell's Scoring to Date: 5 games, 5 goals, 4 assists, 15 PIM
Oct. 6: Kootenay 8, Calgary 4 (at Calgary)

Russell turned in an outstanding performance against the Hitmen, recording a natural hat trick and a shorthanded assist to lead the Ice to a 6-3 road victory. All three of Russell's goals game in a span of 3:27 in the second period, starting off with a power play goal at 1:24. He followed up with a tally at the 4:15 mark before adding his third goal just 36 seconds later. His goals stretched a 2-0 lead into a 5-0 lead, forcing Calgary to play catch up the rest of the night. Russell's four point game earned him first star honors.

Position: Defense
Team: SC Bern
League: Swiss Nationalliga A
Furrer's Scoring to Date: 7 games, 3 goals, 1 assist, 31 PIM
Oct. 6: Bern 7, Langnau 0 (at Bern)

Furrer had his best game of the season to date, picking up two goals and an assist in Bern's 7-0 win. He opened the scoring with the eventual game-winner at 4:05 of the first period. He also scored to make it 3-0 at 0:44 of the second and assisted on Marc Reichert's goal at 11:12 of the second, which gave Bern a 4-0 lead.

Team: Lewiston MAINEiacs
League: QMJHL
Cliche's Scoring to Date: 7 games, 5 goals, 3 assists, 8 PIM
Oct. 6: Cape Breton 4, Lewiston 3 (at Lewiston)

Lewiston fell to Cape Breton despite a strong performance by Cliche, who was voted the third star of the game. He opened the game with a goal at 6:26 of the first period, before his MAINeiacs team gave up three straight goals, putting themselves in a deficit they could not overcome. The Lewiston captain also won 19 of 31 faceoffs and recorded five shots on net.

Hillier's Scoring to Date: 9 games, 4 goals, 2 assists, 8 PIM

The Rangers' third-round draft choice last June tallied his fourth goal of the season 8:10 into the second period to give Halifax a 1-0 lead. That goal stood up as the game winner, thanks to Mooseheads goaltender Jeremy Duchesne, who turned aside all 33 shots he faced.
