The Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate, fell to the Norfolk Admirals for the second straight night by a 3-1 score in Norfolk on Saturday. Once again, Ryan Callahan, the Rangers' fourth-round draft pick in 2004,scored the Pack's lone goal, this time at 12:01 of the second period to cut Norfolk's lead at the time to 2-1. Bryce Lampman and Dwight Helminen picked up the assists. As was the case on Friday, the game was sealed by an empty net goal. The Wolf Pack outshot Norfolk 32-22, and Al Montoya made 19 saves in the Hartford net. The Pack are now 1-6-0 on the season. For more information, visit the Wolf Pack's official site.


Petruzalek

Visit Charlotte's official web site
The Charlotte Checkers, the Rangers' East Coast Hockey League affiliate, defeated Florida 3-1 on Saturday, and Rangers prospect Jakub Petruzalek had a big hand in the victory. Petruzalek's first professional goal at 13:27 of the third period turned out to be the game-winner for the Checkers, who led 3-0 before Florida scored with 1:35 left to end Alex Westlund's shutout bid. In addition, 14 Rangers prospects competed in regular-season games in the QMJHL, OHL, WHL, and NCAA on Saturday. Here is a summary of their performances:

Playing on a line with fellow Rangers prospect Tommy Pyatt, Zaborsky enjoyed a three-point night and finished with a plus-3 rating to earn No. 1 star honors. He had the primary assist on the game's first goal, scored by Jan Mursak at 5:02 of the second period. He then came up with the second assist on Pyatt's goal at 8:36 of the second, putting the Spirit up 2-0. His third assist came on a power play at 13:23 of the second period, as he set up a goal by Tyler Haskins to give Saginaw a 3-0 lead.

Pyatt, the game's No. 2 star, continued to score at a torrid pace, picking up a goal and an assist in the Spirit's victory at home. He had the second assist on Jan Mursak's goal at 5:02 of the second period, which gave the Spirit a 1-0 lead. Just over three minutes later, Pyatt made it 2-0 with his 13th goal of the season at 8:36 of the second.

Hunter, the Prince George captain, scored for the Cougars on a power play at 11:39 of the first period. He also the second assist on Devin Setoguchi's goal at 9:27 of the first, which pulled the Cougars into a 1-1 tie. The game, however, was not completed due to unsafe ice conditions in the arena. The game will be resumed at a later date, when the third period will be played and statistics will begin to count in the player totals.

Oct. 28: Yale 4, New Hampshire 3 (OT) (at New Hampshire)

Beller, a freshman, was Yale's hero - scoring the winner at 3:03 of overtime for his first college goal. It was one of three shots on the night for Beller, a Rangers draft pick in 2005. He also took a minor penalty in the game.

Foote scored the game's first goal, and his first of the 2006-07 season, at 4:03 of the opening period. He finished the night with four shots and a plus-1 rating as the Huskies completed the sweep of the Seawolves at home and improved to 5-1-0 on the season.

Sanguinetti notched two points as the Attack beat the Otters for the second straight night. He wasted no time getting his name on the scoresheet, picking up the second assist on Anton Hedman's power-play goal at 7:17 of the first period. He later had an assist on Bobby Ryan's power-play goal at 5:43 of the second, giving the Attack a 4-2 lead. Sanguinetti's teammate, Joshua Bailey, a 17-year-old who won't be eligible for the NHL draft until 2008, scored five goals, including four in a row over a 27-minute stretch of the second and third periods.

Hillier's Scoring to Date: 17 games, 9 goals, 3 assists, 23 PIM

Hillier's unassisted shorthanded goal with 2:20 remaining in the second period pulled the Mooseheads into a 5-5 tie. Halifax went on to win the game on Jakub Voracek's power-play tally at 2:45 of overtime. Hillier also took a minor penalty in the second period.

Staal had the primary assist on Jonathan D'Aversa's goal at 8:38 of the first period, which pulled the Wolves into a 1-1 tie. He finished the game an impressive plus-3.

Ryan had the lone assist on the game-winning goal for the No. 1-ranked Black Bears. The goal, by Brett Tyler at 15:24 of the second period, gave Maine a 2-1 lead. Maine remains unbeaten at 6-0-0.

Koverko had the second assist on Igor Gongalsky's power-play goal with 3:10 remaining in the game. The goal gave the Generals a 4-3 lead. Koverko was also whistled for 12 penalty minutes, including a 10-minute misconduct with 1:19 left in the opening period.

Cliche fell face-first into the boards early in the first period of the MAINEiacs' win. He did not return to action and was going to be evaluated for a concussion.

Olver did not score any points or take any penalties in the Wildcats' loss. Northern Michigan is now 4-3-1 on the season.

Russell was not in the lineup as the Ice rolled out to a 2-0 lead and never looked back. Russell is out with a broken finger, suffered during Kootenay's Oct. 20 game at Swift Current and is expected to miss one month. It was the second game he has missed due to the injury.
