Rangers Daily Prospect Update: Oct. 19, 2006

Five Rangers prospects competed in regular-season games in the QMJHL, OHL and Europe on Thursday. Here is a summary of their performances:

PyattTom Pyatt
Position: Center
Team: Saginaw Spirit
League: OHL
Pyatt's Scoring to Date: 11 games, 11 goals, 10 assists, 4 PIM

Pyatt continued his remarkable run of offensive success, scoring five points to earn No. 1 star honors for the second consecutive game. He notched the first two goals of the game on power plays and completed his hat trick on a shorthanded tally to make it 3-1. His first goal came at the 3:29 mark of the first period, his second goal came only 1:40 later, and his third goal came at 12:42 - giving him a hat trick in less than 13 minutes of action. He later picked up an assist on Jan Mursak's goal 15:47 of the second, giving the Spirit a 4-2 lead, and then had another assist on Mursak's third goal of the game at 13:56 of the third to make it 6-2.

Zaborsky assisted on fellow Rangers prospect Pyatt's first goal of the game on a power play at 3:29 of the first period and also had an assist on the game's final goal, scored by Chris Chappell on a power play with 2:41 remaining. He now has a point-per-game scoring average.

Position: Forward
Team: Magnitogorsk Metallurg
League: Russian Superleague
Marek's Scoring to Date: 16 games, 11 goals, 5 assists, 18 PIM
Oct. 19: Magnitogorsk 1, Chekhov 0 (at Chekhov)

Marek assisted on the game's lone goal, scored by Nikolai Kulemin at 9:02 of the second period. He also took a minor penalty in the third period. Marek now has 16 points in 16 games.

Cliche Marc-Andre Cliche
Position: Right Wing
Team: Lewiston MAINEiacs
League: QMJHL
Cliche's Scoring to Date: 11 games, 5 goals, 7 assists, 12 PIM
Oct. 19: Moncton 2, Lewiston 1 (SO) (at Lewiston)

Cliche assisted on Lewiston's goal, scored by David Perron on a power play at 17:05 of the first period. The goal gave the MAINEiacs a 1-0 lead, but Moncton tied the game in the second period and notched the only shootout goal. Cliché did not participate in the shootout.

Anisimov did not score a point or take any penalties as his team won an easy one on the road
