Rangers Daily Prospect Update: Oct. 14, 2006

The Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate, played their third game of the season on Saturday night, falling at 3-2 at Lowell. Ivan Baranka gave Hartford an early 1-0 lead, scoring with two minutes remaining in the first period off assists from Ryan Callahan and Dwight Helminen. Lowell came back to score the tying goal with 16 seconds left in the first and then went ahead 2-1 early in the second. The Pack's Lauri Korpikoski tied the game on a power play with his second goal of the season at 11:43 of the middle period, but Lowell's Justin Papineau delivered the winner at 7:57 of the third. In addition, 12 Rangers prospects competed in regular-season games in the OHL, WHL, QMJHL, NCAA and Europe on Saturday. Here is a summary of their performances:

Dupont's Scoring to Date: 10 games, 4 goals, 6 assists, 40 PIM
Oct. 14: Medicine Hat 4, Calgary 3 (SO) (at Medicine Hat)

Dupont scored the game-tying goal on a power play with 3:02 remaining in regulation, enabling Calgary to complete a dramatic third-period comeback from a 3-0 deficit. He also had the second assist on Ryan White's goal at 7:34 of the third period, which started the rally. The Hitmen fell in the shootout, but Dupont was not one of his team's shooters. He also fought the Tigers' Derek Dorsett in the first period. Dorsett went on to score the shootout's lone goal. Dupont, who was plus-2 against the Tigers, is now averaging a point per game.

Ryan Billy Ryan

Ryan's Scoring to Date: 3 games, 1 goal, 2 assists, 0 PIM
Oct. 14: Maine 6, Bemidji State 3 (at Maine)

Ryan assisted on Wes Clark's goal that gave the Black Bears a 1-0 lead at 4:33 of the first period. He later assisted on the eventual game-winning goal, scored by Teddy Purcell on a 5-on-3 power play at 11:06 of the second period. Both assists were primary assists.

Position: Left Wing
Team: Prince George Cougars

Hunter's Scoring to Date: 9 games, 3 goals, 4 assists, 32 PIM
Oct. 14: Prince George 4, Lethbridge 2 (at Lethbridge)

Hunter, the game's No. 2 star, had assists on each of the first two Prince George goals. He had the second assist on Devin Setoguchi's goal at 19:15 of the first period, putting the Cougars up 1-0. He then had the primary assist on a goal by Ty Wishart that made it 2-0.

Olver's Scoring to Date: 4 games, 0 goals, 1 assist, 4 PIM
Oct. 14: Northern Michigan 1, Michigan Tech 0 (at Northern Michigan)

Olver had the primary assist on the game's lone goal, scored on a power play by Matt Siddall just 45 seconds into the game. He was also called for a minor penalty in the third period.

Sauer did not score any points and was called for a second-period roughing minor. Despite the loss, he was plus-2 for the game.

Furrer did not score a point or take any penalties as his Bern shut out Fribourg-Gotteron on the road. Through 10 games, Bern remains atop the Swiss Nationalliga A with an 8-2 record.

Flatt was called for nine minutes in penalties in the Attack's loss at home. He fought Mississauga captain Cody Bass just 32 seconds into the game and also had a pair of roughing minors. (NOTE: Flatt's 2006-07 WHL stats with Kootenay: 4 games, 0 goals, 0 assists, 35 PIM)

Hillier Ryan Hillier

Oct. 14: Acadie-Bathurst 4, Halifax 3 (OT) (at Halifax)

Hillier did not score a point and was called for nine penalty minutes, including a third-period major penalty as the Mooseheads lost a 3-0 lead in the last 10:35 of the third period and fell to Acadie-Bathurst on Danny Masse's unassisted goal at 1:28 of overtime.

Foote Jordan Foote

Foote was called for a hooking penalty six seconds into the game. The ensuing power play for Northern Michigan resulted in the game's only goal.

Roche was called for a tripping minor in the first period of the Terriers' season-opener. He did not have points in the game.
