Rangers Daily Prospect Update: Nov. 7, 2006

Four Rangers prospects competed in regular-season games in the QMJHL, WHL and NCAA on Tuesday. Here is a summary of their performances:

Cliche Marc-Andre Cliche
Position: Right Wing
Team: Lewiston MAINEiacs
League: QMJHL
Cliche's Scoring to Date: 19 games, 10 goals, 14 assists, 20 PIM
Nov. 7: Lewiston 4, Acadie-Bathurst 3 (OT) (at Lewiston)

Cliche had the second assist on Chad Denny's game-winner at 2:12 of overtime. Denny's goal came on the power play with Justin Vienneau serving a penalty. Cliche, who has scored at least one point in three straight games for the MAINEiacs, also took a minor penalty in each period.

SauerMichael Sauer
Position: Defense
Team: Portland Winter Hawks
League: WHL
Sauer's Scoring to Date: 17 games, 4 goals, 4 assists, 30 PIM
Nov. 7: Spokane 5, Portland 2 (at Portland)

Sauer had the second assist on Frazer McLaren's power play goal at 2:28 of the second period. The goal cut Spokane's lead to 4-2. Sauer was also called for a minor penalty late in the game.

ReeseDylan Reese
Position: Defense
Team: Harvard Crimson
League: ECAC
Reese's Scoring to Date: 4 games, 1 goal, 1 assist, 6 PIM
Nov. 7: Harvard 4, Boston College 0 (at Harvard)

Reese's previously winless Harvard team stunned No. 3 Boston College, shutting the Eagles out at the Crimson's rink in Cambridge, Mass. Harvard grabbed a 2-0 lead after one period and never looked back.

HunterEric Hunter
Position: Left Wing
Team: Prince George Cougars
League: WHL
Hunter's Scoring to Date: 18 games, 4 goals, 8 assists, 71 PIM
Nov. 7: Prince George 3, Red Deer 0 (at Prince George)

Hunter, the Prince George captain, did not score a point and took two minor penalties in the Cougars' shutout win at home. Real Cyr was the hero in net with 24 saves for Prince George.

RussellRyan Russell
Position: Center
Team: Kootenay Ice
League: WHL
Russell's Scoring to Date: 12 games, 10 goals, 8 assists, 23 PIM
Nov. 7: Swift Current 3, Kootenay 2 (OT) (at Swift Current)

Russell was not in the lineup as the Ice lost on an overtime goal by the Broncos' Kyle Bortis. Russell is out with a broken finger, suffered during Kootenay's Oct. 20 game at Swift Current and is expected to miss one month. It was the seventh game he has missed due to the injury.
