The Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate, fell to the visiting Worcester Sharks 5-4 on Wednesday night at the Hartford Civic Center despite another hat trick from rookie Ryan Callahan, the game's No. 2 star, and three assists from defenseman Daniel Girardi. Hartford fell behind 3-0 in the first period and could not catch up to the Sharks despite outscoring them 4-2 over the final 43 minutes and outshooting them 47-31 for the game. Jarkko Immonen got the Pack on the board with a power-play goal at 17:21 of the first period. Marvin Degon and Martin Richter picked up the assists. Ryan Callahan later notched 10th goal of the season, also on a power play, at 18:17 of the second with Nigel Dawes and Daniel Girardi assisting. Callahan's goal cut Worcester's lead to 4-2, and he made it 4-3 with another power play goal at 9:12 of the third period. Dawes and Girardi also assisted on that goal. Worcester's Mike Iggulden scored the eventual game-winner with 1:32 remaining, but the Pack managed to get one more goal from Callahan, who completed his hat trick on a power play with just eight seconds left in the game. Dane Byers and Girardi assisted on the final tally. It marked the second game this season that Callahan has registered a hat trick with all three goals coming on the power play. Al Montoya started in goal for the Pack, but was replaced after Worcester's third goal. Stephen Valiquette stopped 20 of 22 shots after entering the game to relieve Montoya and was named the game's third star. Hartford is now 5-11-1 on the season.
