Rangers Daily Prospect Update: Nov. 15, 2006

Seven Rangers prospects competed in regular-season games in the WHL, NCAA and Europe on Wednesday. Here is a summary of their performances:

Olver Darin Olver
Position: Center
Team: Northern Michigan Wildcats
League: CCHA
Olver's Scoring to Date: 13 games, 3 goals, 8 assists, 12 PIM
Nov. 15: Minnesota-Duluth 6, Northern Michigan 4 (at Northern Michigan)

The Wildcats suffered a loss, but Olver had a big game with a goal and two assists, including the game's first goal at 14:26 of the opening period. Minnesota Duluth then went on a run of six consecutive goals over the game's next 16:38 to take a commanding 6-1 lead. In the third period, Olver picked up the primary assist on Matt Maunu's power-play goal at 3:04, cutting the lead to 6-3. He closed out his three-point game with the second assist on Nick Sirota's power-play goal just 1:24 later and finished the night with a plus-1 rating.

HunterEric Hunter
Position: Left Wing
Team: Prince George Cougars
League: WHL
Hunter's Scoring to Date: 21 games, 6 goals, 10 assists, 75 PIM
Nov. 15: Prince George 7, Kelowna 3 (at Kelowna)

Hunter scored his first of two goals at 7:54 of the third period, tying the game at 3-3 and igniting a remarkable five-goal outburst over the game's final 12:06. He closed out the scoring with another goal, scored shorthanded, with 34 seconds remaining in the game. Hunter also took a minor penalty in the second period and finished the game with a plus-2 rating.

DupontBrodie Dupont
Position: Center
Team: Calgary Hitmen
League: WHL
Dupont's Scoring to Date: 23 games, 14 goals, 13 assists, 59 PIM
Nov. 15: Calgary 4, Kootenay 3 (at Calgary)

It was a two-point night for Dupont, who finished the game with a plus-1 rating. He picked up the second assist on Karl Alzner's power-play goal at 7:52 of the first period, tying the game at 1-1. He later had the second assist on the game-winner, scored by Ryan White with 2:23 left in the third period.

Position: Left Wing
Team: HC Hame Zlin
League: Czech Extraliga
Psurny's Scoring to Date: 22 games, 3 goals, 2 assists, 10 PIM
Nov. 15: Karlovy Vary 3, Zlin 0 (at Zlin)

Psurny did not score any points or take any penalties as Zlin was shut out at home.

AnisimovArtem Anisimov
Position: Center
Team: Yaroslavl Lokomotiv
League: Russian Superleague
Anisimov's Scoring to Date: 18 games, 0 goals, 1 assist, 12 PIM
Nov. 15: Yaroslavl 5, Khabarovsk 3 (at Yaroslavl)

Coming off a strong performance in the Four Nations Under-20 tournament, where he had two points in two games, Anisimov did not record a point in his first game back with Yaroslavl.

ZeliskaLukas Zeliska

Zeliska's Scoring to Date: 20 games, 3 goals, 6 assists, 26 PIM
Nov. 15: Medicine Hat 5, Prince Albert 1 (at Prince Albert)

Zeliska did not score any points and took one minor penalty in the Raiders' loss. Medicine Hat led 5-0 within six minutes of the second period.

SauerMichael Sauer
Position: Defense
Team: Portland Winter Hawks
League: WHL
Sauer's Scoring to Date: 20 games, 4 goals, 4 assists, 32 PIM
Nov. 15: Portland 4, Moose Jaw 3 (at Moose Jaw)

Sauer did not take any points and was called for one minor penalty in the third period. Portland's Frazer McLaren scored the game-winner on a power play with 8:22 remaining.

Kveton David Kveton
Position: Right Wing
Team: HC Vsetin
League: Czech Extraliga
Kveton's Scoring to Date: 11 games, 0 goals, 0 assists, 6 PIM
Nov. 15: Litvinov 6, Vsetin 2 (at Litvinov)

Kveton, who was hurt during the recent Four Nations Under-20 tournament, was not in the lineup for his team's loss in the first game back from the IIHF mid-season break.

RussellRyan Russell
Position: Center
Team: Kootenay Ice
League: WHL
Russell's Scoring to Date: 12 games, 10 goals, 8 assists, 23 PIM
Nov. 15: Calgary 4, Kootenay 3 (at Calgary)

Russell was not in the lineup for his team's road loss. He is out with a broken finger, suffered during Kootenay's Oct. 20 game at Swift Current and is expected to miss one month. It was the 10th game he has missed due to the injury.
