The Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate, erupted for a 9-3 victory over the San Antonio Rampage on Saturday night at the Hartford Civic Center. The win was Hartford's most dominating of the year, featuring outstanding performances by several Rangers prospects. It was a career night for 2004 draftee Ryan Callahan, the game's No. 1 star, and 2006 free-agent acquisition Daniel Girardi, the No. 2 star. Callahan picked up his first professional hat trick -- with all three goals coming on the power play - and Girardi had five assists. Lee Falardeau, Dwight Helminen, Martin Richter and Callahan staked the Pack to a 4-0 lead in the game's first 12 minutes, and Hartford never looked back. Greg Moore also scored in the second period, along with Helminen, who picked up his second goal, and Callahan, who scored twice in a span of 1:57. Hartford outscored San Antonio 4-1 in each of the first two periods. Marvin Degon closed out the scoring with a power play goal at 19:40 of the third period. Lauri Korpikoski had three assists and a plus-2 rating to earn No. 3 star honors. Thanks to the offensive firepower, it was an easy night in goal for Stephen Valiquette, who made 20 saves for the Pack. Hartford is now 4-8-1 on the season.
