Rangers Daily Prospect Update: May 23, 2007

by Staff Writer / New York Rangers
One Rangers prospect competed in a Memorial Cup game on Wednesday. Here is a summary of his performance:

SauerMichael Sauer
Position/Team: Defense/Medicine Hat Tigers
Tournament: Memorial Cup
Sauer's Regular-Season Scoring: 65 games, 5 goals, 18 assists, 75 PIM
Sauer's Postseason Scoring to Date: 26 games, 1 goal, 5 assists, 48 PIM
May 23: Medicine Hat 1, Vancouver 0 (at Vancouver) (Medicine Hat 2-1 in tournament)

Sauer did not score any points and took one minor penalty in the second period of his team's win over the same Vancouver squad it had beaten for the WHL title earlier this month. As a result, the Tigers advanced to Sunday's Memorial Cup championship game, where Sauer will attempt to become the first Rangers draft pick on a Memorial Cup champion since Christian Dube in 1997.
