The Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate, defeated the Providence Bruins 1-0 on Sunday afternoon in Providence, R.I. Alex Bourret scored the game's lone goal at 11:57 of the second period off assists from Brandon Dubinsky and Nigel Dawes. Goaltender Al Montoya, the game's No. 1 star, made the lead stand up with a 36-save shutout that included 11 stops in the third period. Bourret earned No. 2 star honors for the Pack, who won despite being outshot 36-26. Hartford is now 41-26-3 on the season and has gone a remarkable 36-15-2 over the past 53 games to move into second place in the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division, eight points behind division-leading Manchester. Bahensky

Visit Charlotte's official web site
The Charlotte Checkers, the Rangers' East Coast Hockey League affiliate, beat the South Carolina Stingrays 4-3 in overtime on the road on Sunday afternoon. Rangers prospect Zdenek Bahensky picked up the primary assist on Charlotte's second goal giving the Checkers a 2-1 lead at 7:07 of the middle period. Fellow prospect Bruce Graham led all players in the game with nine shots on goal. Goaltender Alex Westlund, who attended the Rangers' 2006 training camp before signing with Hartford last fall, made 30 saves, including two in overtime, to earn the win. Charlotte outshot South Carolina 45-33. The Checkers are now 36-25-3 and in sixth place in the American Conference's South Division. For more information, visit the Checkers' official site.

Staal had the lone assist on the game's first goal, scored by Kevin Baker at 13:29 of the opening period. He also took minor penalties in the second and third periods, finishing the game with a plus-2 rating. Mississauga evened the series with the winning goal on a power play with 6:14 left in the third period.
