The Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate, fell to the Worcester Sharks 5-2 on Friday night at the Hartford Civic Center. Craig Weller had given the Pack a 1-0 lead off assists from Brandon Dubinsky and Lauri Korpikoski at 15:35 of the first period, and Dubinsky, the game's No. 3 star, had made it 2-0 with a goal at 2:12 of the second. Dale Purinton and goaltender Al Montoya assisted on Dubinsky's 15th goal of the season, and the Pack appeared to be in control until the Sharks came back with five unanswered goals over the game's final 31:15. The final Worcester goal was an empty-netter. Montoya made 10 saves in 38:07 of work but came out after the third Sharks goal. Chris Holt stopped three of four shots in relief. The real hero of the night was Worcester goalie Thomas Greiss, because the Pack outshot the Sharks by a lopsided 40-18 margin. Greiss, the No. 1 star, finished with 38 saves, including 16 in the second period alone. Hartford is now 39-26-3 on the season and has gone a remarkable 34-15-2 over the past 51 games to move into third place in the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division, six points behind division-leading Manchester.
