Rangers Daily Prospect Update: Jan. 7, 2007

The Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate, edged the Worcester Sharks 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Hartford Civic Center. Greg Moore gave the Pack a 1-0 lead at 12:45 of the second period, scoring his fifth goal of the season off assists from Martin Richter and Bryce Lampman. Exactly one minute later, Mark Lee, the game's No. 2 star, made it 2-0 for Hartford with a goal from Brad Isbister and Nigel Dawes. Worcester eventually cut the lead to 2-1 at 8:45 of the third period, but could not come any closer, thanks to the goaltending of No. 1 star Stephen Valiquette, who made 35 saves. Valiquette stopped 14 shots in the first period, 11 in the second and 10 in the third. Hartford is now 19-16-3 on the season and tied for third place in the AHL's Atlantic Division, just two points out of second place. It was a two-point outing for Kozak, who had a goal and an assist. He scored on a power play at 8:37 of the first period, giving Memphis a 2-0 lead. He later had the second assist on Ryan Campbell's power-play game-winner at 8:28 of the third, giving the RiverKings a 3-0 lead at the time. Kozak was also called for one minor penalty in the game.

Hillier Ryan Hillier
Position: Left Wing

Hillier's Scoring to Date: 43 games, 21 goals, 18 assists, 55 PIM

Hillier had the second assist on Bryce Swan's goal at 17:30 of the second period, which gave Halifax an 8-0 lead. He finished the game with a plus-1 rating.

Marek had the lone assist on Magnitogorsk's goal, scored by Vitaly Atyushov with only 15 seconds left in the third period. The goal tied the game at 1-1, forcing the overtime.

Koverko did not score any points or take any penalties in the Generals' shootout win. Sixteen-year-old John Tavares scored four goals for Oshawa and had the shootout winner.
