The red-hot Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate, beat the Houston Aeros 4-3 in overtime on Saturday night at the Hartford Civic Center for their fifth straight win and 11th victory in the past 13 games. All-Star rookie Ryan Callahan was the hero for the Pack, completing his third hat trick of the season at 1:50 of OT to earn No. 1 star honors. Callahan got the Pack on the board first on a power play at 10:31 of the opening period. Lauri Korpikoski and Brandon Dubinsky assisted on Callahan's initial goal. Bryce Lampman then made it a 2-0 game off assists from Craig Weller and Dwight Helminen at 2:27 of the second period, and Callahan later gave the Pack a 3-1 lead with a shorthanded goal from Brad Isbister and Dale Purinton at 18:13 of the second. Houston came back to score twice in the last 6:22 of the third period, forcing the overtime, which the 21-year-old Callahan ended with his 29th goal of the season, set up by Jarkko Immonen and Lampman. Goaltender Stephen Valiquette, the game's No. 2 star, made 42 saves, helping Hartford overcome a 45-28 deficit in shots on goal. The Wolf Pack are now 27-17-3 on the season and have gone a remarkable 22-6-2 over their past 30 games to move within six points of first-place Manchester in the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division.
