The red-hot Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate, beat the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 4-2 on Friday night at the Hartford Civic Center for their 10th win in the past 12 games. After giving up the game's first goal to Bridgeport at 9:33 of the first period, Hartford came right back with three straight goals between the first and second period. Brad Isbister, the game's No. 1 star, got the scoring parade started for the Pack at 17:15 of the first period, with Darius Kasparaitis and Nigel Dawes picking up assists to make it 1-1. Dwight Helminen, the No. 3 star, made it a 2-1 game on a power play at 8:25 of the second period with his 10th goal of the season. Lauri Korpikoski and Bryce Lampman assisted on Helminen's goal, which gave Hartford the lead for good. Dane Byers then scored the eventual game-winner to make it a 3-1 game at 9:11 of the second period. Brandon Dubinsky and No. 2 star Greg Moore assisted on the goal, which was the rookie Byers' 11th of the season. Isbister closed out the scoring with his second goal of the game on a power play at 18:34 of the second period, off assists from Lampman and Jarkko Immonen. Goaltender Al Montoya made 29 saves, as the Pack outshot Bridgeport 41-31. The Wolf Pack are now 26-17-3 on the season and have gone a remarkable 21-6-2 over their past 29 games to move within eight points of first-place Manchester in the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division. Falardeau

The Charlotte Checkers, the Rangers' East Coast Hockey League affiliate, fell to the Reading Royals 6-3 on Friday night in Reading, Pa. Rangers prospect Bruce Graham scored Hartford's second goal at 10:02 of the second period to cut the Royals' lead to 4-2. Fellow Rangers draftee Lee Falardeau had the lone assist on the goal, which was Graham's team leading 23rd of the season. Falardeau later scored shorthanded at 1:15 of the third period to make it a 5-3 game. The Checkers are now 22-15-3 and in fourth place in the American Conference's South Division.
