The Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate, defeated the Portland Pirates 2-1 in a shootout on Saturday night in Portland, Me., to run their winning streak to four games. Dane Byers scored Hartford's lone goal in regulation time, giving the Pack a 1-0 lead at 1:25 of the second period. The goal, assisted by Ryan Callahan, stood up as the potential winner until only 48 seconds remained in the game, when Portland's Tim Brent forced overtime. Nigel Dawes and Jarkko Immonen both scored for Hartford in the shootout, while Wolf Pack goaltender Al Montoya shut down four of the five Portland shooters, clinching the win with a stop on Drew Miller. Montoya finished the game with 30 saves to earn No. 2 star honors, as the Pack outshot the River Rats 39-31. Hartford is now 21-16-3 on the season. The red-hot Wolf Pack have won six of their last seven games, with the only loss coming in overtime. Hartford has also gone 16-5-2 over its past 23 games to move into second place in the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division. For more information, visit the Wolf Pack's official site.


Jessiman

The Charlotte Checkers, the Rangers' East Coast Hockey League affiliate, beat the Columbia Inferno 4-2 in Columbia, S.C., on Saturday night. Rangers prospect Hugh Jessiman, the game's No. 2 star, scored the game-winner for the Checkers at 5:58 of the third period. The goal, which gave his team a 3-1 lead, was Jessiman's fifth in eight games since being reassigned to Charlotte. Jessiman later assisted on Mike Ouellette's goal at 8:44 of the third, giving him 10 points in eight ECHL games. The Checkers are now 20-14-3 and in fourth place in the American Conference's South Division -- just five points behind division-leading Florida. It was a big night for Zaborsky, the game's No. 1 star, who scored twice for Saginaw in his first multi-goal game of the season. He notched the game's first goal for Saginaw just one minute into the first period and then picked up the game-winner goal at 8:43 of the third period. Zaborsky was a plus-2 for the game.

Pyatt had another multi-point night for the Spirit and finished the game with a plus-1 rating. He picked up the primary assist on Ryan McDonough's power play goal at 18:52 of the first period, giving the Spirit a 2-1 lead. Pyatt followed that assist with his 22nd goal of the season just 12 seconds into the third period, giving Saginaw a 3-2 lead.

Russell enjoyed a three-point night in the Ice's big win at home. He scored on a power play at 12:45 of the first period to give the Ice a 2-0 lead. He later picked up the second assist on Michael Busto's second goal of the game at 10:37 of the third period, which gave Kootenay a 4-2 lead. He completed his night with an assist on Steve Da Silva's empty net goal with only 26 seconds left in the game. Russell was also called for two minor penalties in the game and finished with a plus-2 rating.

Sanguinetti, the game's No. 3 star, scored the winning goal on a power play with 7:12 remaining in the third period. The goal, which broke a 2-2 tie, made him the OHL's first defenseman to reach 20 goals this season.
