The Charlotte Checkers, the Rangers' East Coast Hockey League affiliate, beat the Columbia Inferno 5-2 on the road on Thursday night. Rangers prospect Lee Falardeau had the lone assist on Charlotte's fourth goal, scored by Adam Nightingale at 6:02 of the third period. That goal gave the Checkers a 4-2 lead. Fellow prospect Hugh Jessiman then closed out the scoring with a power-play goal at 18:18 of the third. It was Jessiman's fourth goal since being assigned to Charlotte from Hartford. Charlotte outshot Columbia 38-16. The Checkers are now 18-14-3 and in fifth place in the American Conference's South Division. For more information, visit the Checkers' official site.

In his first game back after winning a gold with Team Canada at the World Junior Championships, Cliché picked up the second assist on Stefano Giliati's power-play goal at 6:17 of the second period, giving Lewiston a 3-1 lead.

Team: Oshawa Generals
League: OHL
Koverko's Scoring to Date: 39 games, 0 goals, 14 assists, 94 PIM
Jan. 11: London 5, Oshawa 4 (SO) (at Oshawa)

Koverko had the lone assist on Cal Clutterbuck's shorthanded goal at 9:56 of the opening period, giving the Generals a 1-0 lead. The assist gave him a new major-junior career high with 14 points in one season. Koverko also took a minor penalty late in the first period and finished the game with a plus-1 rating.

Sanguinetti did not score any points and took a minor penalty in the third period of the Attack's overtime loss.

Dupont did not score any points or take any penalties as the Hitmen were blanked at home.

Jan. 11: Acadie-Bathurst 7, Halifax 2 (at Halifax)

Hillier did not record a point and took one minor penalty in his team's loss at home.
