The Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate, defeated the Albany River Rats 4-3 in a shootout on Tuesday night in Albany, N.Y., after coming back from a 3-0 deficit early in the second period. The dramatic win lifted the Pack into a tie for second place in the AHL's Atlantic Division, only six points behind division-leading Manchester. Brad Isbister, the game's No. 3 star, got the comeback started when he scored an unassisted shorthanded goal at 14:29 of the second period to cut the River Rats' lead to 3-1. Brandon Dubinsky, the No. 1 star, pulled the Pack within one goal just over four minutes later, scoring off assists from Dwight Helminen and Nigel Dawes with 1:01 remaining in the period. Dubinsky then delivered the game-tying goal for Hartford at 1:48 of the third period. Dane Byers and Greg Moore assisted on Dubinsky's ninth goal of the season, which forced overtime. After neither team scored in the OT, the game went to a shootout, and Dawes delivered the game-winner, scoring the lone shootout goal in the second round. Hartford goaltender Al Montoya, who stopped 24 shots in regulation and overtime, denied all five Albany shooters in the shootout, including former NHLer Shane Willis and Matt Murley and Brad Richardson. The Pack outshot the River Rats 42-27, including a 4-0 margin in overtime. Hartford is now 20-16-3 on the season. The red-hot Pack have won five of their last six games, with the only loss coming in overtime. Hartford has also gone 15-5-2 over its past 22 games.
