The Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate, routed the Eastern Conference-leading Norfolk Admirals 5-1 on Saturday night at the Hartford Civic Center, running their winning streak to five games. Dane Byers opened the scoring for the Pack at 4:50 of the opening period off assists from Jake Taylor and Ryan Callahan. Lauri Korpikoski, the game's No. 2 star, made it 2-0 less than five minutes later with his ninth goal of the season, assisted by Jarkko Immonen, the No. 3 star, and Francis Lessard. After Norfolk cut the lead to 2-1 midway through the second period, Hartford's Nigel Dawes made it a 3-1 game by scoring on a power play with 3:42 to go in the period. Dawes' 13th goal of the season was assisted by Korpikoski and Immonen. Hugh Jessiman, recently called up from Charlotte of the ECHL, made it a 4-1 game with only 1:28 left in the second, scoring off an assist from Callahan. Immonen closed out the scoring with his 10th goal of the season -- and third point of the night - on a power play at 9:56 of the third period. Korpikoski and defenseman Martin Richter assisted on the goal. Goaltender Al Montoya, the game's No. 1 star, played the first game's first 36:18 and came out after Jessiman's goal. Montoya stopped 11 of 12 shots for the win before Alex Westlund came on in relief. The Pack outshot the Admirals 36-28. Hartford is now 33-20-3 on the season and has gone a remarkable 28-9-2 over the past 39 games to move within 10 points of first place in the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division.
