The Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate, defeated the Providence Bruins 3-2 on Saturday night at the Hartford Civic Center for their second win in two nights. Brad Isbister, the game's No. 1 star, got the Pack on the board first for the second straight game, scoring at 1:13 of the opening period off assists from Nigel Dawes and defenseman Ivan Baranka. Hartford's Dwight Helminen then stretched the lead to 2-0 at 3:47 of the first. Helminen's 12th goal of the season was assisted by Greg Moore. Isbister made it a 3-0 game just under nine minutes later at 12:43, scoring his second goal of the night, which stood up as the game-winner. Dawes, the No. 2 star, and goaltender Al Montoya picked up the assists on Isbister's second goal. Providence scored later in the first and early in the second period, but could not get the tying goal past Montoya, who finished with 31 saves. Hartford is now 30-20-3 on the season and has gone a remarkable 25-9-2 over the past 36 games to move within one point of second place in the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division with two games in hand over second-place Providence.
