Rangers Daily Prospect Update: Feb. 14, 2007

NOTE: Wednesday's scheduled AHL game between the Hartford Wolf Pack and Lowell Devils at the Hartford Civic Center was postponed due to poor weather conditions.


Seven Rangers prospects competed in regular-season games in the OHL, WHL and Europe on Wednesday. Here is a summary of their performances:

RussellRyan Russell
Position: Center
Team: Kootenay Ice
League: WHL
Russell's Scoring to Date: 45 games, 23 goals, 35 assists, 41 PIM
Feb. 14: Kootenay 5, Portland 1 (at Portland)

It was another big night for Russell, who scored two goals to earn No. 1 star honors. He began with a power-play goal at 18:53 of the second period. That goal, which gave the Ice a 2-1 lead, stood up as the game-winner. He then notched his second goal while Kootenay was shorthanded, an unassisted tally at 10:12 of the third period. Russell also took a minor penalty in the second period and finished the night with a plus-1 rating.

Position: Left Wing

League: Czech Extraliga
Psurny's Scoring to Date: 43 games, 4 goals, 2 assists, 20 PIM
Feb. 14: Zlin 3, Liberec 2 (OT) (at Liberec)

Psurny scored Zlin's first goal at 3:08 of the second period, giving his team a 1-0 lead. He finished the game with a plus-1 rating.

AnisimovArtem Anisimov
Position: Center
Team: Yaroslavl Lokomotiv
League: Russian Superleague
Anisimov's Scoring to Date: 31 games, 2 goals, 4 assists, 24 PIM
Feb. 14: Yaroslavl 6, Novokuznetsk 1 (at Yaroslavl)

Anisimov had the second assist on Alexei Mikhnov's power-play goal at 16:22 of the first period, tying the game at 1-1. He also took a minor penalty in the third period.

DupontBrodie Dupont
Position: Center
Team: Calgary Hitmen
League: WHL
Dupont's Scoring to Date: 60 games, 33 goals, 31 assists, 99 PIM
Feb. 14: Lethbridge 2, Calgary 1 (at Calgary)

Dupont had the second assist on Calgary's only goal, scored by Fredrik Pettersson at 1:48 of the third period. That goal gave the Hitmen a 1-0 lead, but the Hurricanes came back with two goals in the game's final 12:03 to win it.

Team: Sudbury Wolves
League: OHL
Staal's Scoring to Date: 44 games, 5 goals, 25 assists, 82 PIM
Feb. 14: Sault Ste. Marie 5, Sudbury 3 (at Sault Ste. Marie)

Staal did not score any points and took one minor penalty in the third period of the Wolves' road loss. He finished the game with a plus-1 rating.

SanguinettiBobby Sanguinetti

Sanguinetti did not score any points or take any penalties in the Attack's road loss.

Feb. 14: Mlada Boleslav 4, Havirov 3 (at Havirov)

Dornic did not score any points and took a minor penalty in the first period of Mlada Boleslav's comeback win, which featured three third-period goals.

ZeliskaLukas Zeliska

Feb. 14: Medicine Hat 5, Prince Albert 2 (SO) (at Red Deer)

Zeliska was not in the lineup for the Raiders' shootout loss on the road.
