Rangers Daily Prospect Update: Feb. 11, 2007

The Charlotte Checkers, the Rangers' East Coast Hockey League affiliate, fell to the Columbia Inferno 3-2 at home on Sunday afternoon. Rangers prospect Hugh Jessiman led all players in the game with 10 shots on goal - twice what the next-highest player had - as the Checkers outshot their guests 35-20. Both Jessiman, the game's No. 3 star, and Bruce Graham finished the day with plus-1 ratings. Rangers goaltending prospect Chris Holt stopped 17 shots in defeat. In addition, seven Rangers prospects competed in regular-season games in the OHL and WHL on Sunday. Here is a summary of their performances:

It was a tremendous game for Dupont, who had two goals and an assist to earn No. 1 star honors. He notched his first goal of the game at 5:25 of the middle period, giving Calgary a 2-1 lead. He followed that up with another tally at 12:10 of the period to make it 3-1, and later had the primary assist on Keegan Dansereau's goal at 15:13. Dupont finished the game with a plus-2 rating.

Russell's Scoring to Date: 44 games, 21 goals, 35 assists, 39 PIM
Feb. 11: Kootenay 4, Moose Jaw 1 (at Kootenay)

It was a three-assist night for Russell, the game's No. 2 star. He started off with the primary assist on Curtis Billsten's power-play goal at 18:14 of the first period. That goal gave Kootenay a 2-1 lead and stood up as the game-winner. Russell followed up with a second assist on Chad Greenan's power-play goal at 16:10 of the second, making it 3-1, and then had a primary assist on Michael Busto's power-play goal with 30 seconds left in the middle period.

Seymour's Scoring to Date: 37 games, 2 goals, 5 assists, 36 PIM
Feb. 11: Sault Ste. Marie 8, Brampton 2 (at Brampton)

Seymour picked up his second goal of the season to open the scoring at 10:34 of the first period. He also took a minor penalty in the third period.

Pyatt's Scoring to Date: 45 games, 30 goals, 32 assists, 18 PIM
Feb. 11: Mississauga 5, Saginaw 4 (SO) (at Mississauga)

Pyatt did not score any points and took one minor penalty in the Spirit's shootout loss. He was also Saginaw's second shooter in the shootout but did not score on his attempt. Pyatt finished the game with a plus-1 rating.

Zaborsky did not score any points or take any penalties as the Spirit lost an overtime shootout on the road.

Koverko did not score any points and took two minor penalties in the third period of the Generals' shutout victory. He finished the game with a plus-1 rating.
