The Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate, saw their five-game winning streak end on Saturday night, as they fell to the Lowell Devils 6-4 at the Hartford Civic Center. Hartford fell into a 3-0 hole in the second period and fought back for a tie before giving up two back-breaking goals in the game's final 8:21. Brandon Dubinsky notched the first goal for the Pack on a power-play at 7:26 of the second period, getting assists from No. 2 star Greg Moore and David Liffiton. Dane Byers then scored just under six minutes later to cut Lowell's lead to 3-2, and Ryan Callahan picked up his team-leading 17th goal of the season at 7:02 of the third to knot the score at 3-3. Daniel Girardi and Moore were credited with assists on Callahan's tying goal. Almost five minutes after Callahan tied it, Lowell scored the first of two straight to open up a 5-3 lead. Dwight Helminen, assisted by Byers and Callahan, answered for the Pack on a power play with 20 seconds remaining in the game, but Lowell finished it off with an empty-netter at 19:57. Goaltender Al Montoya made 19 saves in defeat for the Pack. Hartford is now 10-12-1 on the season. For more information, visit the Wolf Pack's official site.


Falardeau

The Charlotte Checkers, the Rangers' East Coast Hockey League affiliate, beat the Texas Wildcatters 5-3 on Saturday night in Texas behind a strong performance by Rangers prospect Lee Falardeau, the game's No. 1 star, who finished the night with two goals. Falardeau got the Checkers on the board first on a power play just 35 seconds into the opening period. He later scored a shortanded goal with eight minutes left in the middle period to make it 5-2. No. 2 star Alex Westlund, who attended the 2006 Rangers training camp, made 50 saves to earn the win for Charlotte. The Checkers are now 12-9-1 and in fourth place in the American Conference's South Division. For more information, visit the Checkers' official site.

It was a big night for Ryan, as he picked up three points in Maine's rout of Northeastern. He began with the second assist on Josh Soares' power-play goal at 12:39 of the first period, which gave the Black Bears a commanding 3-0 lead. He later had the lone assist on Soares' hat-trick goal at 5:54 of the third period, making it 6-0. Ryan capped off his evening with a shorthanded goal at 12:29 of the third, putting Maine up 7-0. He also took a minor penalty with 3:35 left in the game.

Hillier, the game's No. 3 star, had a two-point night in the Mooseheads' loss. He began his evening with the second assist on Colby Pridham's power-play goal at 11:52 of the first period, which made it 1-0 for Halifax. He then scored on the power play at 14:02 of the first to make it 2-0. St. John's roared back with four unanswered goals over the final two periods to win the game. Hillier also took one minor penalty late in the third period.
