Rangers Daily Prospect Update: Dec. 3, 2006

Ten Rangers prospects competed in regular-season games in the QMJHL, OHL, WHL, CHL and Europe on Sunday. Here is a summary of their performances:

Hillier Ryan Hillier
Position: Left Wing
Team: Halifax Mooseheads
League: QMJHL
Hillier's Scoring to Date: 32 games, 14 goals, 8 assists, 37 PIM
Dec. 3: Halifax 6, Prince Edward Island 4 (at Halifax)

It was a huge night for Hillier, who had three points, including the game-winning goal, en route to being named the game's No. 1 star. He started off his evening with the lone assist on Yuri Cheremetiev's goal at 5:28 of the first period, pulling the Mooseheads into a 1-1 tie. He then had the second assist on Bryce Swan's power-play goal at 8:53 of the first, making it 2-1. In the third period, he scored the game-winner on a power play to give Halifax a 5-4 lead with 2:14 remaining in regulation. He also took one minor penalty in the game.

KoverkoTrevor Koverko
Position: Defense
Team: Oshawa Generals
League: OHL
Koverko's Scoring to Date: 27 games, 0 goals, 9 assists, 78 PIM
Dec. 3: Oshawa 7, Kingston 6 (OT) (at Oshawa)

It was a memorable game for Koverko, who picked up assists on the tying and winning goals. He had the second assist on John Tavares' hat-trick goal with only 1:10 remaining in regulation. Tavares' goal forced overtime, where the Generals pulled out the victory, with Koverko again getting a second assist on Brett MacLean's game-winner. Koverko also took two minor penalties in the game. He is now within three assists of tying his career high for a single season.

Dupont's Scoring to Date: 32 games, 18 goals, 18 assists, 75 PIM
Dec. 3: Calgary 5, Saskatoon 2 (at Calgary)

Dupont scored the game-winning goal at 18:03 of the second period, giving the Hitmen a 3-2 lead. He finished the game with a plus-2 rating.

KozakRick Kozak

Kozak's Scoring to Date: 2 games, 1 goal, 0 assists, 0 PIM

Kozak scored the RiverKings' first goal of the game on a power play at 17:12 of the opening period, tying the game at 1-1.

Flatt had the primary assist on game's first goal, scored by Wayne Simmonds at 1:32 of the opening period. He finished the game with a plus-1 rating.
