The Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate, defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 3-2 on the road Friday night to return to the .500 mark. Defenseman Mark Lee, recently recalled from Charlotte of the ECHL, scored the Pack's first goal at 8:08 of the first period off assists from Craig Weller and Dwight Helminen to make it 1-1. Rookie Dane Byers made it 2-1 at 8:07 of the second, scoring his sixth goal of the season off assists from Brandon Dubinsky and Ivan Baranka. The Pack went up 3-1 just over 10 minutes later at 18:14, when Nigel Dawes netted the game-winner off an assist from Rangers forward Jed Ortmeyer, who is in Hartford on a final conditioning assignment after recovering from a pulmonary embolism. Ortmeyer finished the night with a plus-1 rating and one shot on goal. Dawes' third goal of the season earned him No. 1 star honors, while Ortmeyer was named the No. 2 star. Goaltender Al Montoya made 20 saves for the victory, as Hartford improved to 15-15-2 on the season. For more information, visit the Wolf Pack's official site.
