The Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate, defeated the Springfield Falcons 2-1 on Friday night at the Hartford Civic Center to reach the .500 mark on the season. It was a huge night for Rangers forward Jed Ortmeyer, who is closing in on a return to the Blueshirts after missing the season's first two months recovering from a pulmonary embolism. Ortmeyer scored the winning goal with 1:11 remaining in the game to earn No. 1 star honors. Craig Weller, the game's No. 2 star, opened the scoring for Hartford at 5:20 of the second period. Ortmeyer had the primary assist, and Lauri Korpikoski also assisted on Weller's goal. Springfield came back to tie the game on a power play at 6:09 of the third period before Ortmeyer delivered the winner at 18:49 of the third period. Goaltender Al Montoya made 30 saves for Hartford, which is now 13-13-2 on the season. For more information, visit the Wolf Pack's official site.
