Rangers Daily Prospect Update: Dec. 12, 2006

The Charlotte Checkers, the Rangers' East Coast Hockey League affiliate, defeated the Pensacola Ice Pilots 5-2 on Tuesday night in Pensacola, and Rangers prospect Bruce Graham had a hand in the victory. Graham picked up the primary assist on Mark Lee's goal at 1:37 of the first period, making it 2-0 for the Checkers. That goal almost stood up as the game-winner, until Pensacola closed out the scoring with only 19 seconds to go. No. 1 star Alex Westlund, who attended the 2006 Rangers training camp, made 36 saves to earn the win for Charlotte. It was a big night for Kozak, who scored two power-play goals for Memphis to earn No. 3 star honors. He picked up the RiverKings' first goal of the game on a power play at 17:46 of the opening period, tying the score at 1-1. Kozak later broke a 3-3 tie on a power play with only 13 seconds left in the second period. He was also took two minor penalties in the game.

Cliche missed the game because he is currently in Calgary, participating in Team Canada's training camp for the upcoming World Junior Championships.
