Rangers Daily Prospect Update: April 5, 2007

Three Rangers prospects competed in postseason games in the OHL, NCAA and Europe on Thursday. Here is a summary of their performances:

April 5: Sudbury 4, Barrie 3 (OT) (at Barrie) (Sudbury leads series 1-0)

Staal, the Wolves captain, had the lone assist on Nick Foligno's power-play goal at 6:56 of the opening period, which cut Barrie's lead to 3-2 and capped off an amazing run of five goals in the opening seven minutes. He also finished the game with a plus-1 rating, as the Wolves upset Barrie in their playoff series opener, won by Justin Donati's goal at 12:33 of overtime.

Ryan Billy Ryan
Position: Center
Team: University of Maine Black Bears
League: NCAA Tournament
Ryan's Scoring to Date: 40 games, 13 goals, 20 assists, 20 PIM
April 5: Michigan State 4, Maine 2 (at St. Louis) (NCAA Frozen Four) (Maine eliminated)

It was a season-ending afternoon for Ryan and the Black Bears, who jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the game's first 3:24, only to see the Spartans come back for four unanswered goals. Ryan did not score any points or take any penalties and had two shots on goal in the game.

League: Swiss Nationalliga A -- Playoffs
Furrer's Regular-Season Scoring: 16 games, 3 goals, 2 assists, 41 PIM
Furrer's Playoff Scoring to Date: 9 games, 0 goals, 0 assists, 4 PIM
April 5: Davos 3, Bern 1 (at Davos) (Davos leads series 3-2)

Furrer did not score any points or take any penalties in the loss to Davos. Bern must win each of the next two games in order to capture the Swiss championship.
