Rangers Daily Prospect Update: April 3, 2007

The Charlotte Checkers, the Rangers' East Coast Hockey League affiliate, beat the Gwinnett Gladiators 4-1 on Tuesday night. Rangers goaltending prospect Chris Holt contributed on offense and defense. He finished the game with an outstanding 36 saves and also picked up the second assist on the game-winning goal, a shorthanded tally by Mark Lee that gave the Checkers a 2-1 lead at 1:20 of the second period. Each team finished the game with 37 shots on goal. Charlotte is now 41-25-3 and in sole possession of fourth place in the American Conference's South Division. In addition, three Rangers prospects competed in postseason in the QMJHL, WHL and Europe on Tuesday. Here is a summary of their performances:

Hillier did not score any points and took a minor penalty at the end of the first period, as the Mooseheads beat Moncton on a goal at 1:23 of the second overtime. Hillier also finished the game with a plus-1 rating. With its win, Halifax advanced to Round 2 of the playoffs.

April 3: Red Deer 2, Medicine Hat 0 (at Medicine Hat) (Medicine Hat wins series 4-3)

Sauer did not score any points or take any penalties as the Tigers survived a first-round scare and advanced to the next round of the WHL playoffs.

April 3: Bern 3, Davos 2 (at Bern) (Series tied 2-2)

Furrer did not score any points or take any penalties as Bern evened the Swiss championship series at 2-2.
