Rangers Daily Prospect Update: April 25, 2007

Three Rangers prospects competed in postseason games in the OHL and WHL on Wednesday. Here is a summary of their performances:

April 25: Sudbury 4, Belleville 1 (at Belleville) (Sudbury leads series 3-2)

It was a huge night for Staal and the Wolves, as they beat Belleville to move within one win of reaching the OHL's championship series. Staal, the Sudbury captain, had two assists to earn No. 1 star honors. He picked up the primary assist on the game's first goal, scored on a power play by Kevin Baker at 15:43 of the opening period. He then picked up another second assist on the game winner, scored by Jonathan D'Aversa on a power play with 17 seconds left in the opening period. That goal gave the Wolves a 2-0 lead. Sudbury would later stretch the lead to 3-1 on another power play goal, scored with only 4:59 remaining in the game and close out the scoring with an empty-netter at 18:51 of the third. Staal finished the night with a plus-1 rating. The Wolves can close out the series at home on Friday night.

April 25: Medicine Hat 3, Calgary 1 (at Calgary) (Medicine Hat leads series 3-1)

Sauer did not score any points or take any penalties but finished the game with a plus-2 rating.

League: WHL -- Playoffs
Dupont's Regular-Season Scoring: 70 games, 37 goals, 33 assists, 121 PIM
Dupont's Playoff Scoring to Date: 17 games, 9 goals, 6 assists, 63 PIM
April 25: Medicine Hat 3, Calgary 1 (at Calgary) (Medicine Hat leads series 3-1)

Dupont did not score any points and took one minor penalty as the Hitmen were pushed to the brink of playoff elimination.
