The Charlotte Checkers, the Rangers' East Coast Hockey League affiliate, fell to the Florida Everblades 4-0 in Game 3 of their American Conference South Division semifinal playoff series at home on Tuesday night, ending their season. Florida completed a sweep of the best-of-5 series and will advance to the division finals. After a scoreless first period, Florida took a 1-0 lead at 15:27 of the second period. The Everblades later added three third-period goals to take charge of the series with a 3-0 lead . The Checkers outshot the Everblades by a wide 32-17 margin, but could not solve goaltender Craig Kowalski, who earned No. 1 star honors along with his shutout. Bruce Graham and Hannu Pikkarainen were the only Rangers prospects to play in the game. For more information, visit the Checkers' official site.
