Rangers Claim Ronald Petrovicky In NHL Waiver Draft

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has acquired forward Ronald Petrovicky from the Calgary Flames, claiming him in the NHL Waiver Draft.
Petrovicky, 25, appeared in 77 matches for Calgary last season, registering five goals and seven assists for 12 points, along with 85 penalty minutes. He has spent the past two seasons with the Flames, skaing in 107 career NHL matches, registering nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points, along with 139 penalty minutes.
Prior to joining Calgary in 2000, Petrovicky played two seasons with the Saint John Flames of the American Hockey League (AHL). With Saint John, Petrovicky appeared in 145 career contests, tallying 35 goals and 54 assists for 89 points, along with 245 penalty minutes. He ranked ninth on the team in scoring during the 1998-99 season with 33 points (12 goals, 21 assists) and was fourth in 1999-00 with 56 points (23 goals, 33 assists).
The 5-11, 190-pounder also spent four seasons (1994-1998) with the Tri-City Americans, Prince George Cougars and Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League (WHL). A native of Zilina, Czech Republic, Petrovicky was originally Calgary's ninth choice, 228th overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
