Team Notes

  • WINNING WAYS - The Rangers' 44 wins in 2016-17 are tied for the 10th-most in one season in franchise history. In addition, the 44 wins are tied for the second-most the Rangers have earned through the first 69 games of a season in franchise history, and the only season in which the Blueshirts earned more wins through the first 69 games was 1971-72 (45). As of the conclusion of tonight's game, the Rangers are tied for the NHL lead in wins this season and lead the NHL in wins since the start of the 2013-14 season (188). In addition, the Rangers' 188 wins are the most in any four-season span in franchise history. New York has won 13 of its last 19 games (13-5-1) and 16 of its last 24 contests (16-7-1).
  • ROAD WARRIORS - The Rangers lead the NHL in road wins this season (25) and since the start of the 2013-14 season (97). The Blueshirts have won six of their last seven road games (6-1-0), 10 of their last 12 road contests (10-2-0), and 18 of their last 22 road games (18-4-0). The Rangers' 25 road wins in 2016-17 are tied for the second-most road wins in one season in franchise history, and the only season in which the Blueshirts earned more than 25 road wins was 2014-15 (28).   • BOUNCE BACK - Since Dec. 22, 2015, the Rangers have posted a 36-9-1 record in the game following a loss (regulation or overtime/shootout). New York has posted a 19-5-1 record in games following a loss in 2016-17.
  • FOUR SCORE - New York has registered four or more goals (including team goals awarded for a shootout win) in 31 games this season. As of the conclusion of tonight's game, the Rangers rank second in the NHL in games with four or more goals in 2016-17.

Three Stars on Broadway

  • Ryan McDonagh tied a single-game career-high with two goals, registered the game-winning goal, tallied a shorthanded goal, tied for the game-high with two takeaways, registered three shots on goal, and posted a plus-two rating while skating in a game-high, 22:25 of ice time. McDonagh posted a multi-goal game for the second time in his NHL career (he also recorded two goals on Feb. 16, 2015 at the NY Islanders). The Rangers captain is tied for first among NHL defensemen in shorthanded goals since the start of the 2013-14 season (four). McDonagh has recorded four points (two goals, two assists) in the last four games, and he leads Rangers defensemen in points this season (38). As of the conclusion of tonight's game, McDonagh is tied for third in the NHL - and is tied for first among NHL defensemen - in games with a plus/minus rating of even or better this season (57).
  • Kevin Hayes recorded two points (one goal, one assist), including a shorthanded assist, won six of 11 faceoffs (54.5%), registered two shots on goal, and posted a plus-two rating. He has established career-highs in assists (29) and points (46), and he has tied his career-high in goals (17) this season. Hayes leads the NHL in shorthanded assists (six) and shorthanded points (seven) this season and he is the first Ranger who has registered six shorthanded assists in one season since Mark Messier in 1996-97. Hayes has registered three points (two goals, one assist) in the last three games, and he has recorded 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 17 games since returning to the lineup on Feb. 7 following an injury. Thus far in his NHL career, 104 of his 127 points have either been a goal or the primary assist on a goal. Hayes leads the Rangers in points on the road this season (27). The Rangers have posted a 29-2-0 record in games which Hayes has tallied a point this season, including a 15-0-0 record in games which he has registered a goal.
  • Antti Raanta stopped 23 of 24 shots he faced to earn his 14th win of the season. Raanta has established a career-high in wins in 2016-17. In 20 starts this season, he has posted a 14-4-0 record, along with a 2.08 GAA, a .931 SV%, and 3 SO.

Blueshirt Breakdown

  • Michael Grabner recorded two assists, including a shorthanded assist, registered three shots on goal, and posted a plus-two rating. Grabner posted a multi-assist game for the sixth time in his NHL career and for the first time as a member of the Rangers. He has tallied two shorthanded assists this season, which is the most he has recorded in a season in his NHL career. Grabner has recorded 18 points (12 goals, six assists) in his last 24 games. Grabner is tied for the team lead in multi-point games this season (11). As of the conclusion of tonight's game, Grabner is tied for sixth in the NHL in plus/minus rating this season (plus-29).
  • Derek Stepan registered a power play goal, tied for the game-high with four shots on goal, and won seven of 14 faceoffs (50.0%). He has tallied three points (one goal, two assists) and 14 shots on goal over the last two games, and he leads the Rangers in power play points (14) and shots on goal (177) this season.
  • J.T. Miller tallied an assist, tied for the game-high with two takeaways, was credited with three hits, and posted a plus-one rating. Miller added to his career-highs in assists (31) and points (50) this season, and he has reached the 50-point plateau for the first time in his NHL career. He has registered a point in 21 of the last 32 games, tallying 28 points (10 goals, 18 assists) over the span. Miller leads the Rangers in points this season, as well as in games with a point (38). He has notched a point in 32 of the Blueshirts' 44 wins in 2016-17, and the team has posted a 32-6-0 record in games which he has recorded a point in 2016-17.
  • Chris Kreider notched a power play assist and recorded two hits. Kreider registered his 47th point of the season in tonight's contest, establishing a new career-high in points. He extended his point streak to three games (two goals, two assists), and he has registered five points (three goals, two assists) in the last five contests.
  • Mats Zuccarello tallied a power play assist and recorded one shot on goal in 17:45 of ice time. He leads the Rangers in assists this season (35).
  • Pavel Buchnevich registered an assist, tied for the game-high with four shots on goal, and posted a plus-one rating. He has recorded three points (two goals, one assist) in the last six games, and has recorded 16 points (eight goals, eight assists) in his last 26 NHL games.
  • Marc Staal notched the primary assist on the game-winning goal, tied for the game-high with two blocked shots, was credited with two hits, and posted a plus-two rating in 19:34 of ice time.
  • Tanner Glass led all skaters with six hits in 11:05 of ice time. Since Glass joined the Rangers prior to the start of the 2014-15 season, the team has posted a 15-5-1 record in games which he has been credited with six or more hits.
  • Oscar Lindberg won five of eight faceoffs (62.5%), registered three shots on goal, and was credited with three hits in 12:00 of ice time. Lindberg has posted a 50.0% faceoff win percentage or better in nine of the last 10 games (60.0%; 57-for-95) and in 28 of his last 43 contests. He has also posted a plus/minus rating of even or better in 24 of his last 29 contests.
