Team Notes

  • ROAD WARRIORS - New York leads the NHL in road wins this season (16) and also leads the NHL in road wins since the start of the 2013-14 season (88). The Rangers' 88 road wins since the start of the 2013-14 season are the most road wins the team has earned in any four-season span in franchise history. The Rangers have won five of their last six road games (5-1-0) and have tallied at least four goals in each of the six contests. The Blueshirts have earned a win in 15 of their last 20 road contests (15-5-0), including nine of their last 11 road games (9-2-0).
  • WINNING WAYS - The Rangers' 29 wins in 2016-17 are tied for the fourth-most the team has earned through the first 46 games of one season in franchise history. The Blueshirts have earned at least 29 wins through the first 46 games of a season six times in franchise history, and the only seasons in which the Rangers earned more than 29 wins through the first 46 contests were 1971-72 (31), 1993-94 (31), and 2011-12 (30).
  • BOUNCE BACK - Since Dec. 22, 2015, the Rangers have posted a 30-7-1 record in the game following a loss (regulation or overtime/shootout). New York has posted a 13-3-1 record in games following a loss in 2016-17.
  • GOALS GALORE - The Rangers lead the NHL in goals this season (163 - includes two team goals awarded for shootout wins). The Rangers have recorded 48 goals over the last 11 games, registering at least four goals in nine of the 11 contests. The Blueshirts have also tallied five or more goals in six of the last nine games.

  • Brady Skjei registered two points (one goal, one assist) and posted a plus-three rating in 15:29 of ice time. He has posted a multi-point game for the second time in his NHL career. Skjei ranks third among NHL rookie defensemen in points this season (19; two goals, 17 assists).
  • Michael Grabner tallied two goals, including a shorthanded goal, drew two penalties, tied for the game-high with three takeaways, registered five shots on goal, and posted a plus-three rating. Over the last 10 seasons (since 2007-08), Grabner is one of three Rangers who have tallied at least 20 goals through the team's first 46 games of a season (Marian Gaborik - 2009-10 and 2011-12; Rick Nash - 2014-15). In addition, Grabner is one of four Rangers who have registered at least 20 even strength goals within the team's first 46 games of a season since 1991-92 (Sergei Nemchinov - 1991-92; Mike Gartner - 1992-93; Rick Nash - 2014-15). Grabner leads the NHL in even strength goals this season (20). He has notched nine points (seven goals, two assists) in the last six games. Grabner has recorded all of his last 12 points, as well as 20 of his last 21 points, in games on the road, and he leads the NHL in plus/minus rating on the road this season (plus-20).
  • Kevin Hayes notched two assists, including a shorthanded assist, recorded six shots on goal, and posted a plus-two rating. He has registered four assists/points over the last three games, and he has tallied 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) in the last 10 games. Hayes has recorded a point in each of the Rangers' last six road games, registering 11 points (two goals, nine assists) over the span. As of the conclusion of tonight's game, he leads the NHL in shorthanded assists (four) and shorthanded points (five) this season. Hayes is the first Ranger who has registered four shorthanded assists in one season since Brian Leetch in 2000-01, as well as the first Rangers forward who has tallied at least four shorthanded assists in one season since Mark Messier in 1996-97.

Blueshirt Breakdown

  • Henrik Lundqvist made 23 saves to earn his 19th win of the 2016-17 season. Entering this season, Lundqvist was the only goaltender in NHL history who registered at least 20 wins in each of his first 11 seasons. He is the Rangers' all-time leader in appearances (718), wins (393), and saves (18,607).
  • Pavel Buchnevich tallied a goal and recorded two shots on goal in tonight's contest. Buchnevich extended his point streak to four games (two goals, four assists), and he has recorded a point in each of his last eight NHL games, dating back to Nov. 5 (six goals, six assists). Buchnevich has tallied a point in 10 of his first 14 career NHL games, registering 14 points (six goals, eight assists).
  • J.T. Miller tallied the game-winning goal, registered four shots on goal, won three of four faceoffs (75.0%), recorded two takeaways, and posted a plus-one rating. Miller leads the Rangers in game-winning goals this season (four).
  • Mats Zuccarello registered an assist, tied for the game-high with six shots on goal and three takeaways, and posted a plus-one rating. He ranks second in the NHL in even strength assists this season (23; Connor McDavid leads the NHL with 25). Zuccarello has tallied 16 assists/points in the last 13 games (since Dec. 18), and he leads the NHL in assists over the span. He leads the Rangers in assists (28), even strength assists, and even strength points (29) this season. He extended his point streak against the Maple Leafs to seven games (eight goals, seven assists over the span), and he has recorded 11 points (five goals, six assists) in his last five games against Toronto.
  • Rick Nash recorded an assist in the contest. He extended his point streak to three games (one goal, three assists), and he has recorded 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in his last 15 games.
  • Chris Kreider tallied an assist and registered two shots on goal. Kreider has recorded 13 points (nine goals, four assists) in the last 11 games and 21 points (14 goals, seven assists) in the last 22 contests.

  • Alain Vigneault leads NHL head coaches in wins since the start of the 2006-07 season (486). Vigneault earned his 595th career win as a head coach in the NHL while coaching his 1,098th game as a head coach in the league.
  • Mika Zibanejad led all skaters with 14 faceoff wins (14-for-21; 66.7%), was credited with three hits, and registered two shots on goal in 15:07 of ice time.
