Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that defenseman Fedor Tjutin (right) and forward Garth Murray have been assigned to Hartford of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Tjutin, 19, has skated in three of the club's first six pre-season contests. The Izhevsk, Russia native recorded 19 goals and 40 assists for 59 points, along with 54 penalty minutes in 53 games with the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) last season. Tutin was the Rangers' second round choice, 40th overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Murray, 20, skated in the Rangers' 2002 exhibition opener in Montreal, where he suffered a strained groin. He was sidelined for the next five games due to the injury. The Regina, Saskatchewan native skated in 62 matches with the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League (WHL) last season, registering 33 goals and 30 assists for 63 points, along with 154 penalty minutes. Murray was New York's third round choice, 79th overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
