New York Rangers President, General Manager and Head Coach Glen Sather announced the Rangers 2003 pre-season schedule today, featuring three games at Madison Square Garden and a total of nine games in 16 days.
The 2003 training camp will be held at the University of Vermont in Burlington, beginning on September 11 and concluding on September 16. This marks the eighth time the Rangers have held training camp in Burlington. Practices, which are open to the public, will be held for five days at the Gutterson Field House, beginning Friday, September 12 and concluding Tuesday, September 16.
The Rangers kick off its exhibition schedule with four games on the road, beginning Friday, September 19 against the Dallas Stars at the American Airlines Center. The Rangers face the Detroit Red Wings at the Joe Louis Arena on Saturday, September 20; the Minnesota Wild at the Xcel Energy Center on Sunday, September 21; and the Columbus Blue Jackets at the Nationwide Arena on Wednesday, September 24 before returning home for three games. New York will face the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday, September 26 at Madison Square Garden in its pre-season home opener. The Rangers will then play host to the Boston Bruins on Sunday, September 28 and the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday, October 1. The club's final road trip of the pre-season consists of visits to the Continental Airlines Arena in New Jersey on Friday, October 3 to meet the Devils and to the FleetCenter in Boston to face the Bruins on Saturday, October 4.
The Rangers pre-season home opener against Columbus (Thu., Sept. 25) and the final home exhibition match against New Jersey (Wed., Oct. 1) will feature 7:00 PM start times. The lone weekend pre-season home contest against Boston (Sun., Sept. 28) will begin at 5:00 PM.
