New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather
announced today that the club has agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent defenseman Joe Rullier.
Rullier, 25, appeared in 71 games with the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League (AHL) last season, registering three goals and 13 assists for 16 points, along with 322 penalty minutes. He established career-highs in assists (13), points (16) and penalty minutes (322). Rullier’s 322 penalty minutes led the Monarchs and ranked fifth in the AHL, while his 16 points ranked third among team defensemen. In six post-season contests, he tallied two assists and accumulated 27 penalty minutes.
The 6-3, 230-pounder has appeared in 331 career AHL games with the Lowell Lock Monsters and Manchester Monarchs, registering 12 goals and 34 assists for 46 points, along with 969 penalty minutes. Prior to turning professional, Rullier skated with the Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).
The Montreal, Quebec native was the Los Angeles King’s fifth round selection, 133rd overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
