Rangers Agree To Terms With Defenseman Calle Andersson

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms on an entry-level contract with defenseman Calle Andersson.

Andersson, 20, split this past season between Malmo in Allsvenskan, Malmo J20 in SuperElit, and IK Pantern in Division 1 in Sweden. Andersson tallied two goals and 10 assists for 12 points, along with 10 penalty minutes in 43 games with Malmo, and recorded four goals and one assist for five points in eight games with Malmo J20. He also registered one goal in two games with IK Pantern.

Andersson tied for third among defensemen on Malmo in assists and ranked fifth among defensemen on the team in points.   Internationally, the 6-2, 211-pounder has represented Team Sweden at numerous tournaments, including most recently at the 2013 World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia, where he captured a silver medal.   
  
The Malmo, Sweden native was selected by the Rangers in the fourth round, 119th overall, in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
