New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with right wing Brad Smyth. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Smyth, 28, ranked second in scoring on the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL), registering 50 goals and 29 assists for 79 points, along with 110 penalty minutes in 77 matches. His 50 goals ranked first in the league, while his 79 points ranked fifth. He also ranked first in the AHL with 21 power play goals and 327 shots on goal. Smyth skated in four matches with New York, tallying one goal and four penalty minutes.
The 6-1, 205-pounder has skated in 76 career NHL matches with the Rangers, Florida Panthers, Los Angeles Kings and Nashville Predators, tallying 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points, along with 94 penalty minutes.
The native of Ottawa, Ontario was acquired by New York from Nashville on May 3, 1999 in exchange for future considerations.
