New York Rangers President and Genaral Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with forward Billy Tibbetts
, who had been playing with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL). Following the signing, he was immediately recalled to New York. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Tibbetts, 28, has appeared in 16 matches with Hartford this season, registering five goals and five assists for 10 points, along with 81 penalty minutes. His 81 penalty minutes ranks third on the team. Tibbetts has recorded a point in three of his last four matches, registering two goals and two assists over the span.
The 6-2, 215-pounder has skated in 71 career NHL matches with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers, registering two goals and eight assists for 10 points, along with 257 penalty minutes.
The Boston, Massachusetts native was originally signed as a free agent by Pittsburgh on April 10, 2000 before being traded to Philadelphia on March 17, 2002 in exchange for Kent Manderville.
