New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has acquired defenseman Jeff Paul from the Florida Panthers in exchange for forward Paul Healey.
Paul, 26, has skated in 57 matches with the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League (AHL) this season, registering two goals and six assists for eight points, along with 174 penalty minutes. His 174 penalty minutes ranks first on the team.

The 6-3, 200-pound defenseman was originally Chicago’s second choice, 42nd overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. He signed as a free agent with Colorado on August 8, 2001 and then with Florida as a free agent on August 19, 2003.
Healey, 28, has skated in four matches with the Rangers this season. He also appeared in 50 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL), registering 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points, along with 37 penalty minutes.
