Rookie Marc Staal scored the biggest goal of his young NHL career on Wednesday night, as the Blueshirts broke a 3-3 tie with only 3:13 remaining and beat New Jersey 5-3 in Game 4. The Rangers can end the playoff series in Newark on Friday.

* Marc Staal's first career playoff goal was also his first ever at Madison Square Garden. Staal had scored two goals during the regular season – at New Jersey on Nov. 14 and at Colorado on Dec. 21.

* Henrik Lundqvist made 28 saves and beat the Devils for the 10th time in 12 starts this season.

* Sean Avery did not register a goal for the first time in four playoff games this season.

* Martin Straka recorded a goal and an assist. In 15 career postseason matches vs. the Devils, has registered nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points.

* Scott Gomez scored his first two goals of the playoffs, with the second goal hitting an empty net to seal the victory.

* Only 18 NHL teams have ever come back from a 3-1 deficit to win a playoff series. No team has rallied from a 3-1 deficit since the Montreal Canadiens eliminated Boston in 2004.
