Purinton Sidelined 2-4 Weeks with Chip Fracture

by Staff Writer / New York Rangers

Rangers defenseman Dale Purinton will be sidelined for two to four weeks after suffering a chip fracture in his left foot in Saturday's game at Toronto. Purinton left the game midway through the second period and did not return. He did not dress in last night's 2-1 OT win over San Jose.

The 6-2, 229-pound blueliner has reached career highs this season with three goals and seven assists for 10 points in 32 games. Purinton also ranks second on the club with 63 penalty minutes.

The native of Fort Wayne, Indiana was New York's fifth round choice, 117th overall, in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.
