The New York Rangers announced Sunday that right wing Petr Prucha suffered a second degree sprain of the medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his right knee during the second period of Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers. He underwent an MRI Sunday to determine the extent of the injury and is expected to be sidelined for three to four weeks.
Prucha suffered the injury when he was checked along the boards by Philadelphia's Turner Stevenson. No penalty was called on the play.
Prucha, 23, has registered 25 goals and nine assists, along with 20 penalty minutes in 49 contests with the Rangers this season.
