Slow night for Rangers prospects on Thursday, but goaltender Brandon Halverson back-stopped the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds to a 3-2 double-overtime victory over Sarnia, to go up 3-1 in their best-of-seven series.
The 2014 second-round pick made 40 saves in the victory, marking the second time in four games in the series Halverson has faced 40 or more shots. He has a .923 save percentage and a 2.70 goals against.
"Halvy was outstanding for us and made some real big saves in overtime for us," Greyhounds head coach Drew Bannister told the team's website.
According to the Sault Star, the Greyhounds fans changed 'Halvy' on 'at least two occasions.'
"That's such an amazing thing to hear," Halverson said. "It sends chills down my back."
The Greyhounds can close out the series Saturday night.
